Domicile and Facilities

The Lutheran School of Theology in Aarhus has its own building situated very close to the University Campus and to the former Theological Faculty of Aarhus University (now: Theological Education, School of Arts). The edifice has two floors and a basement, making up altogether 1700 square metres. Below, the main facilities being at our disposal are described:

  • four auditoriums, two of 32 seats and two of 40 seats. They can be merged into two large auditoriums. They are all equipped with computer, projector and internet access.
  • library (containing approximately 30.000 books and 70 scholarly theological periodicals in current subscription, most of them in subscription from 1976 and onwards). Our new learning centre offers several possibilities for groups as well as individuals. We also have institutional computers with search facilities, Bible programmes and further useful software.
  • four reading rooms with a total of 57 individual study desks.
  • chapel
  • another library holding devotional books
  • rooms and facilities for groups work
  • sitting room
  • offices for each member of the Faculty
  • office for two PhD students
  • office for the manager,
  • a small theological book store
  • offices for the head of the School and for the supporting staff, plus a flat for the House Inspector and his family.

The internet can be accessed from every study desk. In addition, wireless network is installed.

LSTA has a big garden, about 4000 square metres, which allows for future expansion, and in 2011-12 an extension is added to the northern side of the original building. The library has recently been developed into a learning centre, suited to the needs of the new BA programme.

In a five minutes’ walk from the school, the huge State and University Library can be reached. This is the main research library for the entire University of Aarhus. The comprehensive theological library of the Theological Faculty lies within the same distance.
